Lalitpur, October 4

Discussions were held between the Office of Godawari Municipality Ward No. 3 and Wyndham Eco Global Village Pvt. Ltd. to foster collaboration in areas such as waste and water management, environmental conservation, the use of technology, tourism promotion, and sustainable community development.

In the first phase of this collaboration, the plan involves using modern technology to identify the ward's geographical features, natural resources, cultural heritage, and potential tourism sites. Digital records of these identified areas and opportunities will be created to establish a foundation for future development, tourism, and infrastructure planning.

Subsequently, there is a plan to select a suitable neighborhood, community, school, or public area to launch a pilot Waste and Water Management Project. Key priorities under this initiative will include household-level waste segregation, composting organic waste, reuse and recycling, public space sanitation, rainwater harvesting and reuse, and the conservation of water sources.

Additionally, tree planting, the promotion of greenery, and environmental awareness programs in schools and communities will be conducted. The goal is to gradually expand successful initiatives across the entire ward based on the experience and achievements gained from the pilot project.

"Plan to Create a Symbolic Smart Model City through the Wyndham–Godawari Partnership"

Campaigners and Wyndham Eco Global Village Pvt. Ltd. Dan Ghising stated that there is a plan to practically advance the "Friendship City" relationship established between Australia's Wyndham City and Godawari Municipality at the local level, aiming to transform Ward No. 3 into a model area for smart, clean, green, and sustainable development.

According to him, knowledge, technology, skills, and experience gained from the friendship between Wyndham City and Godawari will be integrated into local development efforts. He mentioned that initiatives would be taken to collaborate and exchange knowledge with partners from Australia, Japan, and other nations, as well as with universities, technical institutions, and development partners, as needed.

"A pledge to create a model ward has been announced."

Raj Ghimire, the Chairperson of Ward No. 3, stated that the program is moving forward with the resolve to transform the ward into a model area. He believes that through a partnership between the local government and the private sector—and with the active participation of the ward's residents—the dream of creating this model ward can soon be realized.

Chairperson Ghimire outlined the goal of making Ward No. 3 a model of clean, green, and sustainable development by prioritizing waste and water management, environmental conservation, cleanliness, greenery, tourism, and the use of technology.

The program was also attended by Garry de la Pomerai, a foreign expert in water and environmental management specializing in Water Environment and Risk Education. He shared his experiences and offered technical insights regarding water, environmental conservation, and risk management.

Entrepreneurs and businesspeople such as Vishnu Karki and Shobha Ghimire, along with representatives from various sectors, were also present at the event. Participants expressed the view that the ward's overall development could be effectively advanced through collaboration among the local government, the private sector, experts, entrepreneurs, and the community.

The plan involves making the project community-based by actively engaging local residents, neighborhood development organizations, schools, youth, women's groups, and business owners.

The long-term goal is to develop this initiative into the "Godawari–Wyndham Clean, Green, Smart & Sustainable Community Model." Organizers stated that this successful model could be replicated in other wards of Godawari Municipality and, as needed, in other local government areas in the future.
