A New Beginning of Friendship from the Land of Budo — From the Himalayas to Kumano

In connection with the Japan Budo International Seminar being held in Tanabe City, Japan, an important initiative to strengthen friendship and cooperation between Nepal and Japan at the local-government level has moved forward.

As part of this initiative, a proposal to establish a Friendship City relationship between Ruby Valley Rural Municipality of Nepal and Tanabe City of Japan has formally moved forward. On this occasion, an official and warm courtesy meeting was held between Mr. Ram Singh Tamang, Chairperson of Ruby Valley Rural Municipality, and Mr. Mitsutoshi Manago, Mayor of Tanabe City.

During the meeting, Chairperson Ram Singh Tamang highlighted Ruby Valley’s natural beauty, Himalayan culture, tourism potential, and local opportunities, expressing the view that the relationship with Tanabe City could create opportunities for long-term cooperation in education, culture, tourism, environment, social development, and economic partnership.

Similarly, Mayor Mitsutoshi Manago expressed a positive view toward the proposed Friendship City relationship with Ruby Valley and showed interest in promoting mutual exchange of knowledge, experience, culture, and opportunities between the two local governments.

This important initiative has been coordinated and facilitated by social campaigner and development advocate DN Ghising, who has played a key role in bringing Ruby Valley Rural Municipality and Tanabe City together. Inspired by the core values of international Budo—discipline, respect, friendship, and peace—the initiative aims to strengthen Nepal–Japan relations through meaningful cooperation at the local level.

This is not simply a friendship between two local governments

it is a new bridge connecting the people, cultures, nature, education, tourism, environment, and economic opportunities of two nations, from the Himalayas to Kumano.
