The friendship relationship between Godawari and Wyndham City will be taken to Mount Everest with flags.
The sister-city relationship established between Godawari Municipality and Wyndham City Council is set to be further strengthened through the regular implementation of various programs in the coming days.
Both cities have stated that programs promoting the message of friendship will be included in their respective policies and plans. Godawari Municipality has announced that this initiative will be incorporated into its annual policy and programs, while Wyndham City Council has also expressed its commitment to advancing the relationship in the long term.
On this occasion, both sides expressed respect toward the communities of the two cities and confidence that the relationship will grow even stronger in the future.
With the objective of promoting the friendship relationship at the international level, a plan has been announced to carry the flags of Wyndham City, Godawari Municipality, and the joint Australia–Nepal friendship to the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, during the spring mountaineering season.
Campaigner and tourism entrepreneur D.N. Ghising stated that this campaign would make the initiative meaningful, noting that this is the first sister-city relationship established between Nepal and Australia in 66 years. He described the effort to expand Nepal–Australia relations to the local-government level as historic and exemplary.
It has also been announced that after the successful expedition, the flags will be formally handed over to both city councils.
