Nepal–Australia Relations: A New Chapter of Cooperation

My connection with Nepal is not just diplomatic; it is emotional and historical. I have always felt privileged by the beauty of Everest, but more importantly, by the humanity, humility, and cultural richness I encountered in Nepal. Today, Nepal–Australia relations go beyond diplomacy and are evolving into genuine people-to-people partnerships.

I believe we can work more concretely in areas such as climate change, education, tourism, and social collaboration. Events like the Everest Festival here in Melbourne help build a bridge of humanity and friendship between our two nations.

The Land of Himalayas, A Story of Possibility

Everest is more than a mountain-it is identity, inspiration, and nature’s calling. Celebrating Everest Day here in Melbourne reminds me of the fragile nature of the Himalayan region, the local way of life, and the profound impact of climate change. We need a new perspective on tourism-creative, inclusive, and responsible. Dhaulagiri Adventure is committed to promoting environmental conservation, cultural heritage, and social entrepreneurship in Nepal. With our Australian partners, we aim to launch projects based on ‘Responsible Tourism’

Nepali Community: The Cultural Soul of Our City

The Nepali community is not just part of our population-they are the cultural heartbeat of our city. Their music, dance, festivals, and communal spirit have made Maribyrnong more inclusive and vibrant. That’s why we are preparing to establish a ‘sister city’ relationship with a municipality in Nepal, which will allow us to collaborate directly on education, culture, youth exchange, and small business development.

Everest Is Speaking- Are We Listening?

Raju Adhikari
Climate Scientist
The first warning of climate change is coming from Everest itself. The glaciers are melting, biodiversity is at risk, and communities are facing displacement. We are not just dealing with statistics-we are protecting human lives. Nepal–Australia cooperation can transform this challenge into opportunity-through research partnerships, educational initiatives, and innovation. Our duty is not only to talk-but to act meaningfully.
