Under the Wyndham City–Godawari Municipality Friendship City Initiative

The inaugural founders’ meeting of the Wyndham Eco Global Village Township project has been successfully held with the objective of transforming the Friendship City relationship between Godawari Municipality, Nepal, and Wyndham City, Australia into a new model of sustainable urban development.
Chaired by Friendship City campaigner Dan Ghising, the meeting formally launched the project with a vision to further strengthen Nepal–Australia relations through economic, social, cultural, and investment partnerships.
During the meeting, various proposals regarding the establishment of the project within the Godawari Municipality area of Lalitpur, institutional framework development, initial implementation activities, land management, investment mobilization, and coordination with government and international stakeholders were presented. All proposals were unanimously approved by the founding members present.
The meeting appointed Friendship City campaigner Dan Ghising as Chairperson of the project, Desh Kumar Shrestha as Project Construction and Land Management Coordinator, and Kamala Giri as Finance and Investment Coordinator.
According to the decisions made, the initial phase of the project will immediately commence with land identification, preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR), development of a master plan, and completion of the necessary legal procedures. Desh Kumar Shrestha will coordinate land management and development activities, while Kamala Giri will lead the preparation of financial frameworks and investment plans aimed at attracting domestic, Non-Resident Nepali (NRN), and international investors.
The project aims to develop an internationally integrated smart township featuring environmentally friendly housing, green infrastructure, smart technologies, modern education and healthcare services, tourism promotion, entrepreneurship development, and employment generation.
The meeting also expressed a commitment to expanding collaboration with local governments, federal agencies, the private sector, and international partner organizations, with the aim of establishing the project as a model for long-term sustainable development.
Participants included Dan Ghising, Desh Kumar Shrestha, Ang Kami Sherpa, Kamala Giri, Ram Prasad Neupane, Nabin Sherchan, Sameer Manandhar, Ashish Gharti, Rajendra Tripathi, Bednath Neupane, Raju Amagai, Vijay Gurung, Bindeshwor Acharya, and Rajendra Giri.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was officially announced that the implementation of the “Wyndham Eco Global Village Township” project had formally commenced. The project is envisioned not only as a symbol of Nepal–Australia friendship but also as a model initiative for economic prosperity, modern urban development, environmental conservation, and international cooperation.
