Wyndham City, Australia
A formal “Friendship City” agreement has been signed today between Wyndham City in the state of Victoria, Australia, and Godawari Municipality in Bagmati Province, Nepal. This historic agreement aims to promote mutual cooperation, exchange of experiences, and the expansion of long-term relations between the two municipalities.
The agreement was signed by Mayor Preet Singh on behalf of Wyndham City and Chief Administrative Officer Man Bahadur Khadka on behalf of Godawari Municipality. Both sides described the partnership as a significant and historic achievement in expanding international relations at the local government level.
The establishment of this friendship between the two cities was made possible through the active efforts of tourism entrepreneur and campaigner D.N. Ghising.
The event saw notable participation from a large number of Nepali-origin entrepreneurs, businesspeople, and community representatives. Attendees welcomed the agreement as a historic step toward strengthening long-term diplomatic relations between Nepal and Australia at the grassroots level.
Speakers at the event expressed expectations that cooperation in areas such as education, tourism, culture, environmental conservation, economic development, and community development would bring long-term benefits to both cities. They also shared confidence that this relationship would further strengthen people-to-people ties.
Godawari Municipality is known for its natural beauty, biodiversity, and rich cultural heritage, while Wyndham City is recognized as an excellent example of modern infrastructure, a multicultural society, and sustainable urban development.
Other speakers at the program described the agreement as a historic milestone that extends the 66-year-long diplomatic relationship between Nepal and Australia to the local level.
Both sides have expressed their commitment to further expanding mutual visits, cultural exchanges, and institutional cooperation in the future. The agreement is expected to elevate collaboration, goodwill, and mutual development between the two municipalities to new heights.
